On June 28, 2022, the China·Langfang International Economic and Trade Fair (referred to as the “Langfang Fair”), co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Hebei Provincial People’s Government, concluded successfully.

This year’s Langfang Fair, themed “Project Construction Year – A Prime Time to Invest in Hebei,” featured 47 major events, primarily through a combination of online live broadcasts, video conference links, and virtual exhibitions. Centered around project matchmaking, signing, and implementation, the fair included special sessions across five key areas: regional cooperation, industry matchmaking, innovation development, international exchanges, and investment promotion. The event served as a comprehensive platform to showcase Hebei’s development opportunities, investment environment, and investment projects.

As one of the key forums within the international exchange segment, the “High-Quality Development of Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education” summit was successfully held on June 26. Co-organized by the Hebei Provincial Department of Education, the China Education Association for International Exchange, and the Langfang Municipal People’s Government, and co-hosted by Hebei University of Technology, North China Institute of Aerospace Engineering (NCIAE), and the Langfang Municipal Education Bureau, the summit brought together officials from relevant education departments and the China Education Association for International Exchange, along with experts from domestic and international universities and industries. Participants shared insights on topics such as talent cultivation models in Sino-foreign cooperative education, faculty development, teaching management, and quality evaluation. The summit also facilitated one-on-one discussions between 20 universities in Hebei and 25 overseas institutions, leading to the signing of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding.

On the morning of June 28, NCIAE held a virtual meeting with Saint Martin’s University in Room 12-521. The meeting was attended by Dr. Roger Douglas, Director of International Programs, Jessica Chen, International Programs Coordinator, and David Olwell, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, from Saint Martin’s University, alongside Ji Xu, Associate Dean of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Yin Jing, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Center, Ren Zhiyi, Associate Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, and several faculty representatives from the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at NCIAE.

During the meeting, the two universities engaged in in-depth discussions and reached consensus on three main areas: expanding the levels of cooperative education, enhancing faculty and student exchanges as well as academic collaboration, and adjusting teaching delivery methods. The talks were productive and focused, reinforcing both institutions’ confidence and commitment to their cooperative education program. The outcomes provided new ideas and approaches for deepening collaboration and improving educational quality between the two universities in the post-pandemic era.
