On September 5, 2023, a delegation from the Institute of Control Systems of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited the North China Institute of Aerospace Engineering (NCIAE) at the invitation of the School of Remote Sensing Engineering. The delegation was led by Academician Ali Abbasov, President of the Institute, and included Vice President Tofig Babayev, Assistant to the President Li Renying, and Wang Chang, Office Director of the Engineering Center at the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The delegation first toured the university’s Aerospace Museum, History Museum, and key laboratories, followed by a symposium with relevant university officials.

The symposium was held in the afternoon at the School of Remote Sensing Engineering. Attendees included Ma Qiusheng, Party Secretary of the School of Aerospace Engineering; Yin Jing, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Center; Jiao Zhi, Dean of the School of Electronic and Control Engineering; and Jin Yongtao, Dean of the School of Remote Sensing Engineering. The meeting was chaired by Jin Yongtao.

Yin Jing began with an overview of the university and its international engagement, followed by presentations from faculty representatives of the respective schools. Academician Ali Abbasov expressed his pleasure in visiting NCIAE and introduced the Institute of Control Systems. He then outlined three potential areas for future collaboration: scientific research cooperation in fields such as remote sensing, aerospace information, signal processing, image processing and recognition; joint training of master’s and doctoral students; and mutual participation of experts and scholars in international conferences and academic seminars.

Jin Yongtao thanked the Azerbaijani delegation for their visit and expressed the hope that both sides would further exchanges and cooperation, including joint applications for international projects in areas such as remote sensing, aerospace information, and image recognition and processing. Yin Jing also noted the potential for exploring cooperation in country-specific studies and international Chinese language education.

The visit is expected to significantly boost NCIAE’s development in the field of aerospace information. The university aims to use this meeting as a starting point to integrate its strengths and establish a framework for cooperation in aerospace information, continuously contributing to the cultivation of high-level, internationally-oriented professionals for countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
